Alexandre: Exactly which ISO standard are we following?

I know the ISO 639.1 standard (for 2-letter abbreviations) does not include every conceivable language, and certainly does not include every language supported by WM. Is there some other kind of standard list for languages not included in ISO 639.1 (does anybody know)? or are we "winging it" for the non-included languages?

We follow 639-1 (except chineese)
