The banning procedure should always comply with the terms of the Wikimapia Guidelines. The interpretation of the Wikimapia Guidelines should be literal (i.e. as is written) and not subjective. With this said however, there is no sure way to apply an absolute definition to the wordings of any legislation and so there will always be a margin of vagueness or ambiguity involved. In situations where this is apparent, one should exercise common sense depending on the case.

Ban policy

The banning procedure should always comply with the terms of the Wikimapia Guidelines. The interpretation of the Wikimapia Guidelines should be literal (i.e. as is written) and not subjective. With this said however, there is no sure way to apply an absolute definition to the wordings of any legislation and so there will always be a margin of vagueness or ambiguity involved. In situations where this is apparent, one should exercise rational deliberation.

The process of banning a user is based on four stages. These are:

  • Persuasion
  • Warning
  • Temporary ban
  • Permanent ban

Persuasion

It is necessary to show to an user of an error and to suggest them to correct (or itself to make corrections). Need to prove/show, why its action is an mistake.

Warning

If an user persists (continues to make similar mistakes, does cancellation of correct editing, swears etc.), it is necessary to show it point/place in the Rules which it breaks. It is necessary to write that wrong actions may be cause of ban.

Temporary ban

User can temporarily limit from editing the map, from posting in the forum or complete blocking. Temporary ban - this is not punishment/retribution, but educational activity.

Permanent ban

If, after a temporary ban the user (the offender) has continued to make similar mistakes, it is necessary to apply a permanent ban.
