Proposal. We should use standard terminology For the sake of consistency throughout this Wiki.
The standard spelling for Wikimapia should be Wikimapia and not WikiMapia with a capital M.
All markings should be referred to as objects and not 'tags'. However, the act of marking can referred to as 'marking' or 'tagging'.
| Object name | Editable object | Window name | Edit window name | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Place | Place object | Polygon | Place window | Place edit window |
| Road | Road object | Road segment | Road window | Road edit window |
| Railroad | Railroad object | Railroad segment | Railroad window | Railroad edit window |
| River | River object | River segment/riverside | River window | River edit window |
| Ferry | Ferry object | Ferry segment | Ferry window | Ferry edit window |
For the sake of simplicity, read-only windows can be called 'window' and edit windows can be called 'edit window' when being referred to in their respective articles.
