The town is home to the world's largest Ostrich population with a number of specialized ostrich breeding farms such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm.

    Infertile eggs are sold in local stores. Tasty. Paid my gym fees one month with one. The other was fried up at a braivlei (picnic) and several of the mine workers were happy to share it with me.
