One of the last surviving "landing mats" constructed during WWII. This field was formerly known as Chico Auxiliary Army Airfield #3. It was built as a square so that aircraft could land in any direction, thus avoiding crosswind.
Some landing mats were reportedly camouflaged with painted homes & streets.

This field is now privately owned. ID is CA60.
