This is a residential building of 24 floors + ground level. It is one of the oldest 'sky-scrapers' in India, and is the oldest with the foundation laid in the mid 1960s. However, Usha Kiran, a couple of kilometers north west, which was completed first was the first completed sky-scraper in Bombay and India. Matru Mandir is mostly populated by Gujaratis, Jains, and Marwaris.
