Odell is a junction on Canadian National's former BC Rail Chetwynd Subdivision. From Odell the Stuart Subdivision runs 73 miles to the northwest to Fort St. James, which is the beginning of the Dease Lake Line. The Pacific Great Eastern built north from Prince George through this area during the 1950s, on the way to northeastern British Columbia. Fort St. James was reached during 1967. The PGE became BC Rail during 1972, and on July 14, 2004 Canadian National acquired BC Rail.
