Serangan Island or Turtle Island is an island that is connected to the mainland by a causeway and really only accessible at low tide. This island has been heavily undertook reclamation in 1995 to 1998.
It's an island belongs to the city of Denpasar where sometimes you can see little turtles swimming in its beaches. Sakenan temple, which is one of the oldest temple in Bali is located here.
The island is also home to one of the six most sacred temples of Bali - Pura Sakenan. It was once a place where female turtles, lay their eggs on the beach. Unfortunately, the turtles have been taken for human consumption at high speed and eggs are plundered by poachers. You did such damage, which in 1999 passed a law that prohibits the capture, sale, consumption and possession of turtles. Turtle meat is a delicacy and used in ceremonial feasts.
