This fortification was built by the english in 1777-79. After the treaty of Paris in 1814 there where 600 soldiers there. After 1854 it used as prison. In 1926 a water tank was built there. Since 1965 it is like a park with 6 guns in place. The old military hospital houses now the National Fine Arts Centre. The former barracks are now the Tobago Museum, phone 639-3970, open monday to friday from 9am to 5pm, entry 5 TT $.
