The old bridge that spanned the river at this spot was literally like a slab of concrete, and due to its construction, caused a rapids at this spot.
Several deaths have occurred due to people falling over low bridge into the rapids.
The old bridge has been decomissioned and a larger, safer bridge stands next to it
