Minutka Square (Grozny)

In Soviet times it was called the October Square. In 1991, the area was renamed in honor of General Secretary of the CPSU Nikita Khrushchev. In January 1995, it has been named a moment, because earlier on it was held a working train and stayed for just one minute. In 1996 it received its former name. The current name was given back in 2000.
During the first and second Chechen wars it has become a place of bloody fighting between illegal armed groups and forces of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Armed Forces.
Now the area is actively reconstructed the best architects of Azerbaijan.
