Riverdale is a school that has established a reputation for academic excellence since 1907. Almost all students who graduate from Riverdale enter post-secondary education. A large percentage graduate with 80% or more on their best 6 subjects and many earn university scholarships. Riverdale is a new school building, which contains excellent facilities including a 25-meter swimming pool with electronic timing, spacious gymnasia, three music facilities, fitness center, and extensive library.
Riverdale is responsive to the needs of students, staff and community. An exceedingly wide range of clubs, teams and groups is available to students and participation in extra-curricular activities is encouraged. An active and growing parent council encourages parent participation to help Riverdale Collegiate Institute in its awareness of community concerns.
Riverdale gives students opportunities to contribute to the decision-making process through such bodies as the Students' Council, Boys' Athletic Association, Girls' Athletic Association, Music and Club Executives. All activities, dances, intramural sports, etc. are student run and managed with teachers available as guides and resource persons.
Riverdale believes that, in addition to excellence in academics, it is essential to develop students morally and socially. Riverdale Collegiate Institute strives to establish programs and an atmosphere to foster respect for knowledge, respect for others, and respect for self.
