  • Former Ford Motor Company automobile assembly plant. In the late 1940s and 1950s one could watch from outside the building and follow the progress, slowly walking from window to window, as each component was placed on what started out a bare chassis, ended up a completed car driven out to the parking lot. It was a really neat experience. Now you know why the present-day shopping center is called Assembly Square! :-)
