The lower school of The Royal Ballet School (11-16 years old) is based here.
The White Lodge has a long history with British Royalty prior to becoming home to the Royal Ballet School. It was built in 1730 as a hunting lodge for King George II. Among the many past residents,included: Royalty = His consort Queen Caroline of Ansbach,Queen Victoria & Prince Albert stayed here in that fateful year of 1861 (his death).The Duke & Duchess of Teck,including their daughter Queen Mary,consort of King George V.King Edward VIII was born here.King George VI & Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) had a 2 year long honeymoon here. Two Prime Minsters,Sir Robert Walpole and Henry Addington 1st Viscount Sidmouth,lived here. Lord Nelson came here to show Addington the plans for the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.Actor David Niven was stationed here during WWII.
