The UST Miguel de Benavidez Library contains a rich collection of books and periodicals, listing thousands of volumes in its catalogues, with hundreds of new materials added regularly. It also boasts of a precious collection of rare books and manuscripts which are unique in the Philippines.

The UST Miguel de Benavidez Library is made up of a Central Library, housed in a six-story building consists of several sections (General References and Information, General Circulation, Music, Science and Technology, Rare Books, Civil Law, Graduate School, Social Sciences, Filipiniana, Spanish, Asian, Map Room, Humanities, Serials and Old Books) and the Branch Libraries (Ecclesiastical, Health Sciences, High School and Elementary) which are located within their respective college buildings.

Since 1998, the Library has become fully automated. It offers several databases which are available in CD-ROM. At present, the Library has 85 Internet terminals and 12 Library Online Reader's Network Zone (LORENZO) workstations and one in each section and branch. The LORENZO is an alternative to the traditional card catalog. To further assist the students in their research, 8 computer units are installed at the General Reference and Information Section. Likewise, a Centralized Circulation Section is now operational with four computer stations, return chutes and barcode scanners for fast and easy transactions. To discourage possible attempts to bring out books without going through proper procedures, a Security Check System is installed at the exit door of the Library building. The three biggest sections of the Library, namely: Humanities, Social Science, and Science and Technology are now fully air-conditioned. The Library now offers new facilities like the Conference Hall, Discussion Rooms and the Faculty Area.

The UST Library is also a member of the different consortia such as the Department of Science and Technology - Engineering and Science Education Project (DOST- ESEP) and the Association of Research and Academic Library Information Network (ARALIN).

The University of Santo Tomas Library envisions itself to be the country's leading library in the academe.

  • I usually frequented the internet/computer stations (I knew where each one was on almost every floor), and the Science section of course, especially for reviews and when I had to write laboratory report papers and the like. During first year, it was interesting to look through the Humanities and Religion departments, there were some fascinating books there. The Filipiniana section yielded interesting and helpful books for my search in related literature for my thesis as well. The Reader's Cafe had good offerings, though the prices were steep. The photocopying services were also helpful. I wish the computers used to look through the LORENZO system and EBSCO system were increased though. There were times I had to wait for more than an hour until I was able to sit down and use one unit, only to find that the system was down or experiencing errors. How often are the book catalogues updated? Sometimes it says that the book is available but when I go look for it, I find out that someone has already checked-out the book...
  • Bakit sa lobby ko lang nakikita yung mga taga commerce. Pinupuno nila lahat ng lounge na available, pero pagdating sa upper floors wala ka nang makitang commerce students.
