Aleksandr Ostrovsky (1823-1886) House Museum. After having been born here in 1823, Ostrovsky spent the remainder of his life in Zamoskvoreche. The small wooden house with its own little courtyard garden was where the Ostrovsky family rented the two rooms that served as their home. Today the building houses a museum telling the story of Ostrovsky's life with the ground floor concentrating on photos from his years at the Maly Theater and the upstairs including more personal effects belonging to him and other actors of the time.
