Medieval masonry bridge built in 1674. It has the distinction of being the only bridge on the Tyne to have survived the Great Flood of 1771, making it the oldest along its length. It underwent strengthening work in 1780 and widened in 1881. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I listed structure.
