Widely regarded as the ugliest federal building in the National Capital Region.

The 1 million square foot built in 1941 Navy Annex was torn down in 2013 to make way for an expansion of Arlington National Cemetery. The Navy Annex consisted of seven four story comb-like wings that during its heyday housed 6,000 workers including the Marine Corps headquarters, since moved to an area on the south side of Fort Myer

  • The Navy Bureau of Personnel is long gone to NAS Millington, Tennessee. The Air Force Memorial now stands at the south end of the building, where the annex which held OP-01/Manpower was located for years.
  • Stationed there from Jan, '76 to Dec, '79! Best years of my life! Too bad the command has moved to Millington, TN. The trophy case probably went too. I helped win the football trophies during those years. Mine were lost in subsequent moves and I'd love to see that trophy case again or at least know the years of our triumphs! If anyone can help, my e-mail address is thebhgroup@yahoo.com.
  • Very errie to see it vacant now. Lot's of parking available though. Served there in 76 & 77 and again in 88-93. Nothing like meeting CMC as you walk in the door in the morning, or watching ACMC jogging up the hill with his racquet. Good old days.
