The dam is a earthen dam which came in existance in 1980.The dam water is used to irrigate land of 50 village of Nainpur revenue Tehsil. The Dam has been made on river Thanwar,which is originated near to Kanha national Park.The displaced first village was Bijegaon,which was relocated near the Dam.Its Construction was initiated by Er. S. N. Shukla & later executed by,Er Prem Malhotra. Its irrigation system was mostly developed by Er S.N. Shukla. It has right bank canal system near village Dobhi Gaon. Historically the dam place is adjoining to Jhulpur which was a temple town & rest place for Hindu Pilgrims who traveled en route from South to North India in ancient time.
It can be visited from Jabalpur by road via Kahani,Ghansour & by train as nearest railway station is Pindrai on Jabalpur- Balaghat Broad Gauge. The Project Initiated in year 1976 & work Initiated in year 1977.The Dam is for Irrigation, fisheries,Tourist.This was one of fattest constructed dam & canal system which started irrigation in 1981-82.
