Gjakova’s Grand Bazaar was the source of social, cultural, economic development. It helped the development of all types of craftsmanship. Since 1955, it represents one of the largest urban monumental ensembles not only in Kosovo, but also abroad. This center was extremely damaged during the 1999 war, but it got later reconstructed. Nowadays it has many stores where you can buy different types of ancient handicrafts, such as souvenirs, traditional clothes and even contemporary items.

The Gjakova Old Bazaar is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kosovo, dating back to the 16/17th century.

Aside from shopping, the Gjakova Old Bazaar also has a 16th century mosque, situated in the middle of the complex (one of the major attractions at the site)
