It offers low price overnight lodging and very modest price extended stay lodging which many low-income elderly and incapacitated persons with minimum income seek and keep as their home; some low-income elderly and incapacitated persons have been tenants for as long as sixteen (16) years. The City of Anderson South Carolina Police Department (C.A.P.D.) knows that aside from being a low price overnight lodging solution, for many low-income elderly and incapacitated persons it is a place to live and make home; therefore, C.A.P.D. routinely, day and night, checks as a General Service, Buildings and Grounds, at the Southerner Motor Lodge. i.e. C.A.P.D. Some people over the internet in their assessment of The Southerner Motor Lodge have, without proof, argued The Southerner Motor Lodge is not safe and that it is a haven for prostitution and drugs.
