Suntar (yakut. Suntaar) - the administrative center of Suntar ulus of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is located in the west of the country. The village was founded in 1764. The population of 10 300 persons (2010). Located in the plain Suntaar hochoto. From north to south Suntar heartland stretches for 275 km and from east to west for almost 350 km.     Yakut occupied territory Suntar naslega in the 17th century. They belonged to the genus Zharhanskomu, which since the early 19th century it was named "3 Zharhansky nasleg."
