The Homathko Icefield is one of the largest in the series of massive icefields which are the distinctive trait of the central Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains. Unlike the other icefields - Ha-Iltzuk (Silverthrone), Lillooet and Pemberton, the Homathko Icefield has no prominent summits although Mount Queen Bess lies just to its east nearer Chilko Lake. The icefield takes its name from the nearby Homathko River, which flows around it on its north and west sides.
