Smolensk Lakeland National Park

Park has been created in 1992, covers area of 146237 hectares in Smolensk district. Contains 35 lakes of various sizes. The park contains a virgin-growth fir and oak forest, the only one in Central Europe. 228 varieties of birds (including black stork), 36 fish varieties, 10 varieties of amphibians, 5 varieties of reptiles, 48 mammals (ncluding brown bear, moose,lynx,wolf,fox and flying squirrell).
