Burbank Chandler Blvd. bike path (Burbank)

This is Burbank's new bicycle freeway! The Chandler Boulevard bike path is a virtually traffic-light-free path for pedestrians and bikers only that goes almost the whole way to the Red Line Metro station. The Burbank portion of the Bikeway is a two-mile bikeway within the former Chandler Boulevard railroad right-of-way, running from Mariposa Street to the City border at Clybourn Avenue.

The Chandler Boulevard Bikeway was constructed where the Burbank Branch railroad used to run, it was previously owned by the Southern Pacific Transportation Company.

In 1991, the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission, now the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), purchased the Burbank Branch (Chandler Boulevard) railroad right-of-way from the Southern Pacific Transportation Company. Burbank agreed to jointly purchase the right-of-way with the MTA. Burbank's share of the two-mile segment of the right-of-way is 41.1% and MTA’s share is 58.9%. The Chandler Bikeway officially opened to the public at a grand opening celebration on August 20, 2004.

Beautifully landscaped, the Chandler Bikeway provides an ideal setting for walking, jogging, running, cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, walking dogs, and chatting with family, friends or neighbors along the way.
