Des Plaines River Valley Bridge

USA / Illinois / Lemont / Interstate 355 (Veterans Memorial Tollway)
This bridge carries I-355 over the Des Plains river, the Sanitary Ship Canal, and the old I&M Canal. One of the tallest highway bridges, it had to be built high enough to prevent an endangered species of dragonfly from being hit by cars.
