Growing vegetables in winter months

The former "Comunidade" (community-owned land) is cultivated for rice during the monsoon season (June-September) and later during the winter dry months, albeit on a much smaller scale, the farmers grow subsistence vegetables, and mostly chillis, onions, sweet potatoes, water melons.
The photos by Themistocles D'Silva, show the farmers drawing water from the wells and others watering and tending their vegetable plots.
