Grafton was settled by Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) pioneers in 1859. Due to flooding by the Virgin River and other towns in the area becoming more established, the town became a ghost town and was abandoned in the 1920's and 1930's. The church/school house building, the Russell house, the Wood house, and some sheds still remain in town. The cemetery just outside of town has some 60+ grave sites.
Filming location for the 1969 movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Etta's home was located here in Grafton, though her house (visible in the pictures) has since burned down.
