The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India (formerly Regional Engineering College, Durgapur), was established under an Act of the Parliament of India in 1960 as one of the eight such colleges aimed to function as a pace-setter for engineering education in the country and to foster national integration. It is a fully funded premier Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administered by an autonomous Board of Governors. In 2010, NIT-Durgapur is going to celebrate its Golden Jubilee Year (completing 50 years), NIT-Durgapur is one of the oldest of 14-RECs established between 1959 and 1965.

NEVER EVER ANYONE OF REPUTATION THOUGHT OF JOINING IT IF HE CANT MAKE IT TI JU OR SHIBPUR...A DARK PLACE. HERE THE STUDENTS ARE IMMORAL, UNCIVILISED(MOSTLY VILLERS, TUMPAS AND BANKURISN ASSES) AS WELL ASINDULGE IN SEXUAL AND PERVERSIVE ACTIVITIES.. WORST STUDENTS HAVING NO SOCIAL OR MORAL BACKGROUND COMES OUT OF THIS PLACE....AND THY IN FUTURE MAKE THE ENVIROMENT AROUND THEM, IN OFFICE OR IN SOCIETY A HELL...
