Sushil Kumar Roy was born in Bogura, Bangladesh (then East Bengal, India). Grew up in Sirajganj and Sherpur (then in Jamalpur subdivision, Mymensingh district). He was a self-made man who didn't get much formal education due to disruption caused by the partition of the country. He learnt the art of making jewellery at an early age, basically through apprenticeship at various jewelery workshops in Calcutta. His gift from God was his artistic sense and beautiful musical voice. He could draw and paint very well, which helped him in his craft a lot. Based on his hard work, honesty, and integrity, he built a business from scratch, which lasted over 40 years. His children are highly educated and well-established in different corners of the world. He retired from his business in 1994 and moved to Rajpur, near Calcutta. He died a peaceful death due to natural causes on January 13, 2007 in Calcutta.
This house was then ('60s-early '90s) owned by Sardar Harbans Singh.
