Haupt House

Romania / Sibiu / Piața Mică / Small Square, 22
Renaissance (architecture), Baroque (architecture), fresco, listed building / architectural heritage, 18th century construction, 16th century construction, 15th century construction, tourist attraction

House originally built in the 15th century, transformed and amplified in the 16th and 17th century, the current facade being the result of transformations in the 18th century.
Although much transformed by elevation, it is of particular importance through the 1631 murals in one of the vaulted rooms on the ground floor. The vault is decorated with a large coat of arms made of stucco and dated 1694 (attributed to Johann Zabanius Sachs von Harteneck).
During the recent renovation of the building (2017-19) the remnants of a large facade fresco have been discovered.
