Central Park of Culture and Leisure is a main Kharkiv city park consisting of over 130 hectares of land.

Nicholas Park was founded here in 1893-1895 years.
The idea was to use this area for horse riding in a similar manner to the Boulogne Forest. Teachers, university and school students assisted voluntarily with the tree planting.
It was solemnly opened in 1907 when several trees grew up.

In 1938, the park was given its name of Maxim Gorky Central Park for Culture and Recreation.

The park was severely damaged in the 2022 Battle of Kharkiv during Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On 13 June 2023, the Kharkiv City Council removed the name of Russian writer Maxim Gorky from the park name.
On August 8, 2023, part of the park name was removed again.
The final official name is the Central Park.
