Auckland Airport (IATA: AKL, ICAO: NZAA), previously Auckland International Airport, is the largest and busiest airport in New Zealand with over 13 million (some 7 million international and 6 million domestic) passengers a year, expected to more than double by 2025.
The airport is in Mangere, a western suburb of Manukau City, and is 21 km south of Auckland City centre. It is the central hub for Air New Zealand.
Major expansion of the Arrival facilities, and building of a new runway, are planned for completion in time for New Zealand's hosting of the Rugby World Cup in 2011.
A free shuttle bus runs between the terminals; alternatively, passengers can walk between the terminals.
The airport is 21 kilometres from Auckland's central
business district - approximately 35 minutes by motor vehicle.
