Richard Proenneke lived alone in the Alaskan wilderness at Twin Lakes for 30 years, in a remarkable cabin he hand-crafted with simple hand tools. He filmed much of the cabin construction, which was eventually turned into the fascinating documentary film "Alone In The Wilderness" detailing his first year at Twin Lakes in 1968.

In his 80's, Proenneke finally moved back to civilization, and turned his cabin over to the U.S. National Park Service, who maintain the cabin as a living museum.
