The National Park complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as a historic district. It was constructed in the 1920s, and greatly expanded in the 1930s with Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) labor. The CCC was a New Deal program that operated between 1933 and 1942. It provided work for unmarried, unemployed men who were struggling to find work during the Great Depression.
