Former flour milling plant active in this area between 1831 to 1998. The company later moved its operations to Corona to team up with Kruse Investment Co., and was bought by ConAgra in 1999.
Although the building states the company was established in 1883, the mill has been here for much longer. An early adobe mill was constructed on this site or its vicinity in 1831 by Abel Stearns. A brick mill was later built here in 1855 -- first known as the Eagle Mill and later Deming Mill -- and then purchased in 1883 by Jacob Loew and renamed Capitol Milling Company.
