Lake Issyk

The lake was formed by stone avalanches making natural barrier to the river Issyk approximately 8-10 thousand years ago. Situated 1756 m above sea level. Until 1963 it was beloved resort of local population with sanatoriums around and asphalted route to.
7 july 1963 the lake broke through and in form of dirt flow smashed down couple of villages and resorts, killing considerable number of people. In 1990 some protective constructions were put in place. Now the lake is making about 3/4 of previous volume
