One of the larger towns in Surrey, this station serves the community of Guldford about thirty miles to the south of London. He station has links to several different railway lines and therefore can offer fast services to both central London at Waterloo and towards the south coast and Brighton. The station is extremely busy with commuters in peak hours. It is situated on the Portsmouth Direct Line, and is an interchange station for three other lines of railway:

The North Downs Line northwards towards Reading, and with connection to Aldershot;
the same line eastwards to Redhill;
The alternative Waterloo line via Cobham or Epsom (the New Guildford Line)
There was also the line to Horsham which was closed in 1965.
