Norfolk, Virginia

Norfolk is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States of America. With a population of 238,005 as of the 2020 census, it is Virginia's third-largest incorporated city.

Norfolk serves as the "downtown" for the southern part of Hampton Roads, and is the main employment hub. The daytime population of Norfolk swells to almost 600,000, with major employment centers at the two naval bases (Norfolk and Little Creek) the Sentara medical center and Norfolk State and Old Dominion Universities.

It is home to the world's largest naval base.

  • The downtown area is improving, as far as dining and nightlife are concerned. The Ghent area is one of the nicer places in Norfolk.
