Gubbewad, a small village in Indi taluka has approximately 10000 populatuion which is situated on the Bhima river bank. This village comes under Agarkhed panchayat. In olden days it has been ruled partly by Bijapur Adilshahi and partly by Hyderabad Nijam. The village godess is Guptai Devi, from which the name Gubbewad is derived.Another god is, Sri Gangaling Maharaya, who is worshipped by sarrounding villages also. Usually the Village fairs will be celebrated in the Akshattadagi amavasya and in Mahanavami Amavasya in the name of respective gods. Gubbewad is educationally still in the younger phase, having one Government school upto Seventh standard. Still the village students have to go Agarkhed, which is 4Km from Gubbewad, for further education. In summer, some times it is very difficult to get drinking water. In rainy season,it is difficult to come out of the homes because of poor roads and in some areas due to lack of roads itself.
