Zahlé

Lebanon / al-Biqaa / Zahhlah /

Zahlé(called the "Bride of the Bekaa")is the capital of Beqaa Governorate, Lebanon. It has around 40,000 inhabitants, which makes it the 3rd largest city in Lebanon. The population is mostly Christian. It is famous for its clean air and its many restaurants. Zahlé styles itself "The City of Wine and Poetry", and with good reason. In this century alone some 50 poets and writers were born here and almost as many excellent wines and araks have been produced in the area.
