The BOK Center is a multi-purpose arena serving as the primary indoor sports and events venue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Designed to accommodate arena football, hockey, basketball, concerts, and similar events, the facility was built at a total cost of $196,000,000. Ground was broken on August 31, 2005, and the arena opened on August 30, 2008.
Designed by César Pelli, the BOK Center was the flagship project of Tulsa County's Vision 2025 long-range development initiative. MATRIX Architects, Inc. was the architect and engineer of record. The arena is managed and operated by SMG and named for the Bank of Oklahoma, which purchased naming rights for $11 million. Current permanent tenants are the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL and the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA. Another tenant was the Tulsa Talons of the AFL (2009-2011). The facility occasionally hosts NBA preseason games and college basketball matchups and can also attract national and regional sporting tournaments.
The BOK Center has a floor area of 565,000 sq ft (52,500 sq m) and reaches a maximum height of 134 ft (41 m). It has an all-seater capacity of 17,343, with 37 luxury boxes.
