British SAS troops lead Operation Barras to rescue 11 captured soldiers of the Royal Irish Regiment and a Sierra Leone Army officer. Using three Chinook and two Lynx helicopters, members of the SAS and Paras landed and stormed the small huts of Geri Bana. One British Para was killed, one seriously wounded and 11 slightly injured. 25 West Side Boys were killed and 18 captured.
