The giraffe is the tallest land-dwelling mammal. Interestingly enough, it has only seven neck vertebrae, like most other mammals. The blue crane also shares this enclosure with the giraffe. Although this is South Africa's national bird, it is an endangered species. See if you can find the very active suricate family in this enclosure. They escape from danger and heat into burrows under the ground.
