city gate, 16th century construction
One of the gates in Jerusalem`s Old City walls. The gate is facing towards Mount Zion, hence the name.
Located in the south of Old Jerusalem, Zion Gate leads into the Armenian and Jewish Quarters and is also known as David's Gate (Arabic: Bab el-Daoud; Hebrew: Shaar David), because the tomb of King David is believed to be on Mt. Zion
