The Hatchery Studio Arts Building, a former chainsaw-supply warehouse, is home to six artisans and artists, including Craig Wilson of the White Salmon Guitar Company and Eric Lindsay, a collage artist and sculptor.

"We want to shepherd development so it doesn't take on a random theme," said John Mayo, himself a sculptor and the president of the White Salmon Arts Council, who renovated the hatchery building in 2005.
