Kenzo Hemmi Laboratory Building (Los Baños)

The Kenzo Hemmi Laboratory (KHL) at IRRI, a US$4.9 million research building equipped
with special facilities to efficiently characterize, maintain, and preserve biofertilizer germplasm,was inaugurated in 1992.
One floor of the building housed IRRI’s biofertilizer germplasm collection. The Italian
Government donated US$750,000 to help construct the Hemmi Laboratory and to supply
equipment for the biofertilizer germplasm bank. IRRI also tested azolla strains collected by the Universita Di Firenze.
