Ivo Lola Ribar was a machine tool factory founded on January 1, 1948 in Zeleznik . It was one of the most important factories in the former Yugoslavia. The corporation was liquidated by the decision of the Government of Serbia on December 31, 2001. Construction of the factory began on April 20, 1947 as part of the First Five-Year Plan in Yugoslavia with the aim of accelerating the country's post-war reconstruction and industrialization. It was named "Ivo Lola Ribar", after the legendary youth leader . The machines were transferred from the German factory "SIS Defris" in Dusseldorf as part of German war reparations. At one time the company employed about 9,500 workers in Zeleznik with 2,500 workers in 10 production plants in the former Yugoslavia.
