The temple was first constructed by Kulothunga Chola I(1070-1125 A.D.), with bricks and mortar, indicated by various stone inscription found in the site.
Rajagopalaswamy temple is a Vaishnavite shrine located in the town of Mannargudi, Tamil Nadu,The temple is one of the important Vaishnavite shrines in India. The temple is called Dakshina Dwarka (Southern Dwarka) along with Guruvayoor by Hindus.The temple complex has 16 gopurams (tower gateways), 7 prakarams (outer courtyard), 24 shrines, seven mandapams (halls) and nine sacred theerthams (temple tanks). The utsava (festival deity) is a bronze figure from the Chola period.

For this we have to wait, even for many births if we have to take!. Here I would like to share a very rare quotation from the Bhagavatham pravachan in North India, delivered by the Scholers. i.e., when Maa Yasoda was feeding breast milk to krishna one day, she did not take the chailed in her hand to feed him milk and, herself bend her body to do this. As soon as saw it, some other Gopi told Yasoda not to do like, because if she do so, then the Chaild grow un evenly with having bends. But, by that time Krishna already drunk milk THREE times and so the Lord shri Krishna has three bends in his body, which we can see it at our Mannargudi only.I mean that the Gopalan gives us Dharshan as being explained by the shrimad bhagavatam experts.
