The Main Monument “Courage” is a huge in size sculpture, built in 1971 as a central element of the war memorial. It shows a heroic defender with the Soviet banner in the background.
The reliefs on the reverse side depict the important scenes in the defence of the fortress in 1941.
The monument’s highest point is 32 m over the ground. It is a concrete shell, hollow inside, resting on a steel framework.
